I've never done a Vipassana retreat but I did a 30-day Ignatian retreat years ago. Silence wasn't as strict. But I couldn't imagine sharing a room with someone and no place to sit. Seems like they intended you to suffer! LOL. Good for you for choosing to honor your own desire to leave!
